Once installed in the home, this approach allows the door panels to expand and contract due to temperature and humidity changes without exposing unfinished wood or a broken finish line.

Even the inside of each cabinet is given special treatment, not only by hand sanding, but also being finished without having a back installed. This prevents the build-up of finish in inaccessible corners, allows for a uniform color, and a perfectly smooth surface free from over-spray. The cabinet backs are finished separately and are installed along with hardware. Most of Birchcraft's hardware selection is solid brass and is included in the cost of the cabinets. Drawer guides are completely concealed under the dovetailed drawer boxes and allow the drawer to be fully opened beyond the face of the cabinet. Each drawer has a load carrying capacity of 100 pounds.
